Evaluation: This book has won not only tons of awards, but its also won the world's heart. A great book for exploring emotions, Where the Wild Things Are, will be a picture book that parents will treasure as much as children. Parents who aren't totally familiar with this book, often ask me if it is too scary. This could be a consideration in very young children however, it has been my experience that children love it, love being "wild" with the wild things during the wild rumpus, and love making crowns and wands like Max has when he is crowned King. Use is as a chance to become King and learn to rule your emotions! What an opportunity! The Video/DVD of this story is scarier then the book title if you happen to pick it up at a library. Pre-screen it and see if it seems ok for your child.
